Policy and Regulations
PURCHASING PLOTS Plots may be purchased from the President or Secretary of the Cemetery Committee. All plots must be approved and plot number assigned before payment is made.
Only Payment in full will be accepted. Certificates will not be issued until payment in full is received. If payment is not received prior to a change in the fee schedule, the new fee will be assessed. Plots cannot be reserved without being purchased.
OPENING AND CLOSING COSTS ARE ADDITIONAL TO PLOT PURCHASE
Plot Resale is Prohibited Plots may not be resold to a third party. Vacant plots may only be sold back to the Panaca Cemetery at the original amount paid.
Use of Plot Previously purchased plots may be used for any family member or friend as designated by the original purchaser or heirs given that authority; or by court decision, or legal will. Resident / Non-resident fees will apply at time of burial.
Burial Permit In accordance with the state law, no new grave shall be closed unless a state burial-transit permit has been issued and delivered to the Cemetery Committee prior to burial.
Burial When a husband and wife are buried side by side, the wife is to occupy the plot to the North and the husband to the South. No more than one casket is allowed in a Grave/Plot.
NO URNS ARE ALLOWED IN AN OCCUPIED PLOT. No more than two URNS may be placed in one empty plot. An additional fee of $300.00 will be assessed for the second URN.
Only one person's remains may be interred per casket. No URNs allowed in a casket occupied plot.
Notification Requirement No burial shall be made without at least a seventy-two hour (72) notice to the Cemetery Committee. Upon receipt of such notice, the Cemetery Committee shall determine the availability of the plot selected. There are times during the watering cycle or inclement weather that getting on the turf to excavate the grave is not possible and may require changing the burial date until such time the equipment can be safely driven onto the site.
Casket and Cremation Vault Requirement In order to reduce future ground subsidence, and assist in grave location, a casket vault with lid or top (grave liner) constructed of concrete must be used. No fiberglass or plastic vaults are allowed. Cremains must also have a cement vault with concrete top to facilitate location in the future and prevent subsidence.
Burial Hours Burials must be between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. PST. No burials shall take place on Sunday. An additional fee of $200.00 will be required for Saturday and *Holiday burials and are subject to availability of Cemetery Representatives.
*No burials are allowed on Memorial Day or the Memorial Day weekend.
UNAUTHORIZED PERSON(S) MAY NOT BE PRESENT DURING THE OPENING OR CLOSING OF THE GRAVE!
PLANTS Planting live plants in the Cemetery is prohibited.
MAINTENANCE AND IMPROVEMENTS The Cemetery Grounds Keeper shall have the right to remove flower arrangements, cans, broken concrete structures, vegetation, dead grass, or any other structure at his discretion.
ANIMALS No dogs, cats, or other animals are allowed in the Cemetery, above or below ground.
PLOT OWNER RESPONSIBILITY
Any deviations from Panaca Cemetery Rules and Policies are the responsibility of the plot owner and shall be rectified at the owner’s expense.
